Parrot Head Reef

Eternal Reefs are Living Legacies

Reef World of Sarasota Florida in collaboration with Reef Maker/Walters Marine of Orange Beach Alabama plan to create, deploy, and donate 80 (eighty) 8’ (eight foot) limestone artificial reefs to Monroe County. The artificial reefs shall be completed and will be transported on a USCG Certificated Freight Vessel for placement. Reef Maker artificial reefs have created over 70,000 artificial reefs projects since 1986. The artificial reefs are being sold for friends and family memorials. These ‘Burial at Sea Memorialization’ will contain cremated remains to honor loved ones with a lasting legacy beneath the sea.

Environmental enrichment through habitat creation for marine species. Reef World and Walters Marine are now leveraging this expertise to expand reef ecosystems in Monroe County, promoting both marine health and meaningful personal tributes. Ensuring the integrity, safety, and ecological benefit of each reef system installed. Fishing and Marine Organization to create new fishing grounds and a location for future experiments and research. The Last Call Reef program’s goal is to recreate the Underwater Artificial Reef and offer affordable low-cost memorialization.

Eternal Tribute in key west

Key West has always been a place for adventure. Now it can a last call adventure. To honor your loved one with a living legacy through an artificial reef memorial, that will thrive and endure for generations. Be it for yourself, family, friend, a loved one, or to honor a group or society, this is a beautiful tribute to adventurous souls who love to give to the environment.

The journey

Upon booking you'll receive an engraved plaque engraved with your loved one's name and a personal message. Once the plaque arrives, plan your journey to Key West.

Your experience begins with a Duval Crawl tour of Key West's best bars and restaurants. After a great lunch, it is time to honor your loved one with a memorial ceremony with up to 6 people aboard a U.S. Coast Guard vessel. You can raise a glass in their honor at Key West's First Legal Rum Distillery during "The Last Call".

Optional:

The next Day you will enjoy the island's sights, including a New Orleans Jazz Funeral parade should you choose that as an option.

Reef Placement & Farewell

On the reef placement day, join the crew as you escort your loved one to their eternal location. Where the reef will thrive as a marine habitat. You may spend the rest of your day fishing, diving, and relaxing on or in the ocean.

ACTIVITIES:

Memorials for Veterans and other family members on the USCG Vessel in Key West. Each family who sponsors a memorial reef will be invited to attend the placement ceremony, fostering a deep personal connection and long-term engagement with marine preservation efforts.

The families who purchased the Family Reef will be invited to the placement ceremony. Our organization will have artificial reefs on the ground at this location. We will be marketing the travel packages to dive clubs, fishing organizations, and memorialization (Burial at Sea).

Individuals and businesses can purchase a reef to donate. We will work with the Reef Coordinator on logistics and locations.

Let's talk about affordability:

Veterans and first responders have selected free reef memorials available per request. Please make sure to fill out one of our forms to nominate a HERO today.

The families who purchased the Family Reef, it will hold up to 8 original family members. 8 additional family members can be added later by divers.

This is available as an 8 ft Multi Reef. The family of eight cost $8,499. This includes a customized engraved plaque. The original family member has the option of having their cremated remains be made into the reef casting.

Individual cost is $1,499 this includes the individual cremated remains to go into the reef casting as it is made. It will also include a customized engraved plaque.

Individuals and businesses that wish to donate to the cause, can have their business, group, or educational facility honored with an engraved plaque for the group to visit year after year.
